Assistant County Attorney

The Bourbon County Attorney’s office is seeking a full-time Assistant County Attorney for the Fort Scott, Kansas office. The individual will be responsible for matters pertaining to first appearances, status conferences, care and treatments, misdemeanor trials, preliminary hearings, and low-level felony jury trials. The new Assistant will work closely with an experienced prosecutor in developing and refining their trial skills. This is a very fast paced environment and requires working well under pressure.

Bourbon County, with its population of approximately 15K, is located in Southeast Kansas.

REQUIREMENTS: Currently licensed to practice law in the State of Kansas or awaiting Kansas bar examination results. Must be able to maintain confidentiality, have excellent courtroom skills and demeanor, work well with others and under pressure with significant time restraints.

Full-time salary commensurate with experience
