Drug Prosecutor: The Crawford County Attorney’s Office and the City of Pittsburg, Kansas, are seeking a highly motivated individual to represent the State of Kansas in prosecuting felony drug cases investigated by the Pittsburg Police Department. The ideal candidate must be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Kansas. The attorney will be responsible for handling cases from the beginning through trial. Litigation experience is preferred. 

Duties:

  • Review and file felony drug cases;
  • Research legal issues;
  • Draft motions and responses; and
  • Appear in court for all phases of the case from first appearance through jury trial.

Skills:

  • Excellent research skills to gather relevant information from various sources;
  • Ability to litigate cases effectively and present arguments persuasively;
  • Exceptional writing skills to prepare clear and concise legal documents; and
  • Strong negotiation skills to advocate for the State’s interests during settlement discussions

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school;
  • Licensed to Practice law in the State of Kansas;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Prior litigation experience preferred, but not required;
